I’M ENGAGED! – MY PROPOSAL STORY

On February 5, 2022, Chris popped the question, and I said YES! Here’s the story.

That morning was a lazy one for me. I woke up with no alarm, stayed in my pajamas until 2 p.m., and got ready to leave with just enough time; little did I know, Chris was sweating in anticipation the whole morning.

I was not expecting the proposal AT ALL! As we left the apartment, I thought we were about to celebrate Chris’ brother’s MBA graduation at Rare650, a nearby steakhouse. When we arrived, we were asked to check our coats, but I refused, multiple times (don’t ask why). I was wearing a new pink faux-fur coat and I wanted to keep it with me for some reason, another thing to unknowingly set Chris’ nerves off (he was thinking of how I would want the photos to look).

Chris led me into the room and I was surprised at how big it was. It was a beautiful atrium with windows and skylights, allowing the sun to shine in. As I followed Chris, I heard Dan + Shay’s Speechless playing through the speakers. I saw the mantle decorated with flowers, rose petals, candles, and decorations. Suddenly, it started to click. Before I knew it, Chris got down on one knee and proposed! Naturally, I asked playfully, “What are you doing?,” but of course I said YES!

I was so shocked and excited! I couldn’t ask for a better surprise, or a more perfect ring. I knew Chris was good at picking out jewelry, but he outdid himself! After admiring my beautiful ring, I turned around to see my younger sister, Stephanie, taking photos. Our families then trickled in from the side curtain for a champagne toast. Luckily, Stephanie brought nail stickers for me to quickly put on to take nice photos. Like I said, it was a lazy morning, so my nails weren’t done (yet another thing on Chris’ mind).

Once my heat rash, blood pressure and shaking went down (lol, but actually), we had a delicious dinner in a private room, and then went back to our apartment to celebrate some more. It was such a special day and the start of such an exciting time! I can’t thank Chris and our families enough for planning this day so perfectly, especially Chris’ parents who so graciously helped Chris pick out the venue, decorated the room, and planned a delicious and special meal with personalized engagement cookies!

Fast forward… Chris and I have been full-force wedding planning since the proposal (hence my five-month blogging hiatus). Wedding planning is a lot of research, appointments, and important decisions. It’s been a fun and eye-opening whirlwind with lots more to go! Follow along our wedding journey!
