‘TIS THE SEASON TO SEND SAVE THE DATE CARDS

This post is in partnership with Basic Invite. All opinions are my own.

For most, it’s that time of year to pick your favorite pictures, design your Christmas card, and send it to family and friends. But for me, it’s time to send save the date cards for my September 2023 wedding!

When designing our card, it was important to me and Chris to have a simple but formal look, legible text, saturated ink, and good quality paper. With Basic Invite, we found the perfect template and personalized it with customizable options to satisfy what we were looking for. And lucky for us, we have so many beautiful photos from our engagement party and engagement photoshoot we could choose from. We are so excited for everyone to see our save the date card!

One thing I like about Basic Invite is that almost every element of each card is customizable. They have so many different fonts and over 180 colors to choose from, so you can design your card exactly the way you want. There are also over 40 different envelope color options!

I highly recommend taking advantage of Basic Invite’s custom sample option. For a few dollars, you can order a sample of your card to make sure you are completely satisfied before ordering in bulk. My samples came in a beautiful envelope with information about Basic Invite and next steps on how to order. Funny story – it’s a good thing I ordered samples! While designing, I didn’t see the option to make changes to the back of the card, so some of my samples had a couple (who weren’t me and Chris) on the back!

My favorite thing about Basic Invite is that they offer free recipient and return address printing on all cards. This is a game changer! I uploaded my address list directly to the site using Basic Invite’s template and then made individual edits where necessary. Super easy! If you don’t have all your guests’ addresses, you could take advantage of Basic Invite’s address capturing service that gives you a link to share with your guests for them to input their address.

When Chris and I received our full card order, I was impressed to open a sturdy box and see my cards and envelopes in a few stacks, wrapped tightly in plastic. The cards look and feel great and I’m very happy with how the printed addresses look, including our return addresses on the blank envelopes. Basic Invite also included some extra complimentary cards and envelopes!

Tips on how to design and order your best cards from Basic Invite:

  • Look through all the card designs and pick your top three to help you choose your favorite.
  • While designing your card, click “Next” until you can’t anymore to make sure you customized every possible element.
  • Order at least one sample, before you order 100+ cards! I ordered five samples with different photos, designs, and even paper texture.
  • Double and triple check everything before placing your order! For an extra fee, you can have a Basic Invite expert review your card before it’s printed.
  • Plan ahead! It takes at least 7-10 business days for Basic Invite to ship your cards, so if you’re ordering samples, you need at least double that before you can start sending.
